10 ways to Adult at Disneyland

1. Get Doomsday Prepped.

On our last trip to Disneyland, we were completely unprepared. This was pre baby and the hubz and I were wearing flip flops, forgot to charge our phones, had no snacks/backpacks and we both had hangovers from hell.

This year? Backpacks, portable chargers, hydro flasks, running shoes, comfortable clothing, a plethora of healthy snacks, SPF 50 and a game plan.

2. Alcohol

Who says you can’t enjoy a glass or 3 of French Pinot Grigio? Take advantage of Downtown Disney. It’s a nice break from the park and an untapped resource for cocktails. California Adventure also serves up the yummiest mango micheladas. ( located next to Monsters Inc ride)

3. Use the Monorail

The Monorail located in tomorrow land not only takes you around the park, but also, outside the park to Downtown Disney . There’s a separate monorail entrance in downtown Disney to bring you back to the park after you’ve had the 3 cocktails and good food.

4. Seek out Good Food

You don’t necessarily have to eat all the expensive junk inside the park. ( unless you want to). There’s a multitude of beautiful restaurants outside the park, monorail distance. We were able to dine on Ahi Bruschetta, Cuban sliders, garlic truffle fries and great drinks. It was a nice 2 hour break from the madness.

5. Show your kids a world of endless possibilities

Being in the park is magical enough, but taking the time to appreciate the magical little things like this entrance into club 33 makes it that much more special. Dream big little one.

6. Eat the expensive junk

why not? Is there anything better than a corndog with spicy mustard at Disneyland? Yes, they’re about $10 each but worth it. You’re an adult. You can afford it. This thing is totally shareable too.

7. Rest when you’re tired

There’s no shame in Parking on a bench, or taking the trolly a couple times around the park in order to rest your feet. You’re adulting now, you run out of gas.

8. Do the fast passes, do the switch passes and ride your favorite ride more than once.

The app is a must for fast passes, if you’ve got a little one your hubby and you can take turns with a switch pass. Haunted mansion is always a 2x for me. Legend has it this ride is really haunted.

9. Lessons

Disneyland is an amazing place for learning about taking turns, waiting patiently and following instructions for the kiddos. For the grown ups, practice mindfulness , a little meditation via headspace or practice deep breathing while In line for rides. There’s no use in stressing out.

10. Don’t adult too hard

Remember to enjoy everything, take it all in and be present. The smell of vanilla pumped through the vents next to the churro stands, the pirates of the Caribbean smell of salty sea water. The magnitude of exactly what Walt Disney imagined and created. For us. We get to enjoy this? Oh the magic of it all.
